Meet Magoo's Crew, consisting of Magoo (Dan), Melissa and Colin.
The (a little bit crazy) idea is to travel across the Simpson Desert to raise funds for the MND foundation. Magoo will be pedalling his Fat Bike 500 kilometres from Purni Bore in South Australia, all the way to Birdsville in Queensland as part of the Simpson Desert Bike Challenge.
Melissa and Colin will form the support crew, thankfully on FOUR wheels!
We told you it was a little bit crazy.

WHY?

Mel lost her mother last year to MND. Cheryl didn’t have much time between her diagnosis and eventual passing, diagnosed in June 2021 and leaving us on December 6 2021. We were meant to do the ride last year, with Cheryl giving Dan her blessing to complete it raising funds for MND SA in her name. Cheryl was even steadfast in the fact that she was coming along for the adventure as she had only driven across the Simpson Desert less than 12 months beforehand in convoy with us, her husband Colin and a few teachers here from Leigh Creek. Plus, an adventure always needs a photographer and if anyone was going to take 4000 photos in a 5 day period, it was Cheryl.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 between now and the completion of the race on the 1st October, to be donated entirely to the MND Foundation in support of continuing research to find a way to beat this disease. Bonus…If we hit this goal by the time we roll into the Birdsville Hotel, Dan will shave off his beard; a fixture on his face since 2015….GASP!
